Whether you are an accomplished artist, or just a beginner, drawing a flower does not have to be a complicated task. You can easily create stunning flowers in just minutes with these easy directions. Once you get the basic idea, you can use your new skills to branch out and try new flowers.

Gather Supplies

You don't need many supplies to start drawing a flower, but there are a few things that are helpful to have handy, so you don't have to get up and down. To start you will need a light tracing pencil to create outlines, and a regular pencil to create the lines. If you wish to go back and darken the lines that form the flower, grab a dark black marker or darker pencil. You will also need colored pencils or paints to fill in your flower with color once complete.

How to Draw a Basic Flower

Start by creating a small circle in the middle of the page and then draw a much larger circle around it so that the first circle serves as the center. Create curves around the middle to create petals that extend from the small circle to the large circle. Continue to fill the circle area with more petals allowing them to overlap. You can make some slightly shorter to create depth like a real flower. Draw two lines straight down from the center circle to create a stem and add a few curvy lines to create leaves. Trace over your final lines and then color in using shade to create a more dimensional flower.

How to Draw a Sunflower

A sunflower is one of the easiest things to draw for a beginner. Simply start by drawing a large circle and then drawing a smaller one in its center. Then make a wavy stem and add a leaf on both sides. Make a long heart with the heart base touching the inside circle, and the tip touching the outside circle. Continue to create petals until they fill the entire circle. Use pointed angles to fill in the middle gaps. Crisscross lines inside of the small inner circle to create the sunflower seed patch. Add a line inside the leaves for definition. Color in your sunflower.

How to Draw a Daisy

Start by creating a small circle and then draw a much larger circle around it. Darken the middle circle, and then make two long elongated 'U' shapes to form the top and bottom petal. Now add two more petals horizontally in the middle of the circle. Continue to go around the circle until you have petals that mirror each other on all sides. Then fill in the holes with small 'U' shapes that connect the petals. Erase your original sketch marks, and color in the flower.

How to Draw a Rose Without a Stem

Start by making a circle that will serve as the border of the inside of the rose. Add two larger circles that will become the outer border when you are drawing on the petals. Now, create some rough triangles using the circles as a guide for width that will become the petals. Grab your dark pencil and draw over to create the final lines for your petals. Color in the rose and use some shading to create depth.

How to Draw a Rose with a Stem

Start by drawing a curved line and then sketch two more that are similar shapes around it. Then create a wavy vertical line for the stem and had a leaf on the left side. Now create the first petal by using a 'U>>' shape at the top of the rose. Add more petals so that they appear to overlap the first 'U' you drew. Now move onto the second layer of petals and add more details mimicking the same style. Follow through by using your last U-shaped curve to sketch more petals that match the first round. Go back to the stem and thicken it a bit and then add thorns by drawing on points. Now all you have to do is color it in!

How to Draw a Tulip

Make a small to medium sized circle and then draw a curved line that will serve as the stalk. Add some curvy lines that will serve as a guide to the leaves. Also, draw two petals in the front and a petal in the back so that you have a total of three. Now sketch out the leaves by adding a second side to them. Darken the outline of the petals and the stalk and then darken the outline of the leaves. If you wish, add in some more lines on the leaves and petals to add depth and then color the flower.

How to Draw a Daffodil

Start by drawing an oval that will be the outer edge of your flower petals. Then add two parallel lines at the top and connect them with a circle to close them. Now make an oval at the top of the parallel lines and loosely draw some petals from the inner circle out. Next, add some depth to the petals by adding in down the middle. Add the final lines, and then color in the flower.

How to Draw a Cosmos Flower

Start by making a simple circle, and then sketch another circle inside of the first. Make petal shapes that are roughly the same size around the outer circle and make sure they overlap slightly. Draw a straight line down to serve as the flower stalk. Draw small semi-circles around the inner circle to create a bud. Outline the petals with a dark pencil. Go back and outline the large circle and the stalk. Color the flower using shading to add dimension to the flower.

How to Draw a Cartoon Flower

First, draw a vertical oblong circle at the middle of the page and then draw on a slim rectangle to create the stem. Now draw two curves on from the oval- one on the right and one on the left. Make lens that spread out from the bottom of the oblong circle somewhat like spider feet and then draw two smaller lines that resemble arms from the middle of the oblong. Draw curves to connect the lines to create petals. Now take two lines and curve them upwards to create buds. Follow the same principle and create another petal that drapes down below over the stem. Go back and darken your lines, and then add color to create a finished flower.
